Attending the inspection

Dear Scott,

I just spoke with your company and then found your blog. The person I spoke with on the phone encouraged me to attend the inspection in its entirety. Is that really necessary?

Mary Ann

Dear Mary Ann,

I would highly recommend you attend the home inspection in its entirety. When we are done inspecting your house we will know it well. If you are there you will know every square foot of it as well…after all you are going to live there we are not. Our inspectors take the time to discuss maintenance, locations of your shut off valves, and discuss deferred items such as an aging roof that is still OK for now. We also take the time to discuss issues and what they really mean to you and the house.  We encourage questions during the inspection and you should follow your inspector around while he is doing the inspection. I will warn you it is a log boring tedious process but educational and well worth while in the long run.
