Seller home during the inspection

Dear Scott,

We just had our home inspection and the seller was home and followed us around. This was uncomfortable but I can deal with it. The problem was whatever the home inspector said was wrong the seller discounted or downplayed it and so did my Realtor.

Dear Charles,

I am struggling just a little with your question for me or maybe it is just generally a complaint on how the inspection was handled. I have been on several of these where the seller is there and discounts or downplays everything I say. It is frustrating at best especially if there are major issues. I have often made arrangements to meet the buyer at a local fast food or coffee place to go over the inspection afterword without scrutiny. I am going to go out on a limb and assume that your realtor will still go to bat for you and the agreeing with the seller was to help pacify them. I have been on inspections where the seller wanted to stay and the realtor stood their ground and managed to get them off of the property. It is easier to talk candidly without the seller in the discussion or even within earshot. All I can say is trust your inspector he/she is there for you benefit and not the seller. I hope that helps,
